So, I’m what you call a cliché; At least according to the standards of
society. Something that’s hard for me to even think about. I’ll share with you
that yes, I’m a college graduate, the typical type that did not get into
graduate school the first time around like she assumed, has no job prospects,
lives with her parents still, can’t afford to buy a decent car because she has
no money to actually pay off her student loans, and is struggling to find
meaning in the limbo.
//
Wow, did I just openly admit all
of that? I don’t know about you but that stings a little, especially when I’m
exposing that to the whole wide world. If you see me and my situation through the world’s eyes I’m just a
complete failure or an unsuccessful, hopeless cause. This mindset is
recurring each and every day when I see other people out driving or walking or
in the complex I live that seem to “look” successful driving their brand new
sporty cars, dressed to the tee, or whatever it may be. Are they really
successful? Maybe, when measured according to the world’s ways. But, if we
measure ourselves according to God’s word, His plan for our lives, His mercy
and love then we would find ourselves most successful. What the world describes
us as is depressing. It devalues who we really are, what we have to offer, and
what we’re really made of. It also
devalues who God is and what He can do. God’s success meter is infinite. We
cannot understand His measures.

Waiting to be successful
dependent upon what society expects is going to be a long and rough wait time. Waiting when all you want to do is sprint to
your next destination will be something that you will need to be intentional
about. I won’t candy coat it. The waiting time will be tough. It will push
you to a breaking point. Instead of looking at your situation, the lack of
success, the lack of a job or independence as something negative and hindering
you try looking at your troubles as a
growth period; a period where God has you and is trying to teach you
something. Will this waiting time be wasted on wallowing or will it be a chance
for you to glorify God and show others that even through the dark valleys you
have a joy that is more powerful than anything in this world? Deepen your
relationship with God tonight and this week. Each time you find yourself depressed, wishing you had more, or were more successful take a moment to talk to God about it. Pray to Him and tell
Him how you’re feeling and to help you see your situation through His eyes. He
will give you strength, a new mindset, and joy for the moment if you ask. He is
with you and is for you.
I know how you’re feeling. I’m
right there with you. I’ll be praying for you.
Patience. Faith.
Growth.
Peace & <3,
Samantha
